How to get there!

By air: Göteborg-Landvetter is an international airport 20min from the city centre. There are no transatlantic flights to or from Göteborg but frequent connections to Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Paris, Frankfurt and further European and of course Scandinavian destinations. From the airport, taxis (around SEK300/USD and Euro 40) or busses take you to the city centre.

By car: From Germany via Denmark, which requires two short ferry trips. Travelling time from Hamburg is about 8h, from Copenhagen 3h. Travelling by car is very convenient in Sweden due to low traffic density.
The bridge (Öresundbron) between Denmark and Sweden (i.e. Copenhagen and Malmö) will be open on 1 July 2000. However, since this is the first day it may be very busy; a ferry could be used for the tour to Göteborg.

By boat: Ferries connect Göteborg with Norway, Germany (via Kiel), Denmark (via Frederikshavn) and the UK.

In town: Göteborg has a well developed system of busses and trams to easily get around.

Conference venue: The conference will take place in Artisten, the Institute of Arts. The centre is located near Götaplatsen (city map) in the centre of town, close to the hotels and restaurants. Everything is in walking distance. A section of the city map indicating important locations is shown below.
